Case Study: Material Traceability in Shopwerx

Labor tracking and integration

Cut Processing – Task Tracking and Integration:

We are excited to share the journey of our recent development endeavor – the implementation of a custom material traceability solution named Cut Processing Integration within Shopwerx, our steel fabrication production progressing web tool. This innovative solution further solidifies our commitment to delivering cutting-edge features that optimize production tracking and provide valuable insights for enhanced decision-making with seamless integration.

Development and Integration:

Development Process: Leveraging the robust labor tracking framework inherent in Shopwerx, our team seamlessly integrated a new task type into the existing framework. This task, known as Cut Processing, was specifically designed to track labor allocated to the preparation or cutting stage in the steel progression for a given job. This integration not only streamlined the workflow but also enhanced the precision of labor tracking, contributing to improved transparency and efficiency.

Challenges Faced and Overcome: The development of the Cut Processing Integration presented unique challenges that our team adeptly addressed. One significant challenge involved the creation of two distinct querying workflows—one for barcoded material and another for non-barcoded material. Our solution seamlessly accommodated both scenarios, ensuring flexibility and usability for a diverse range of material types.

Concurrency handling emerged as another crucial aspect of the development process. Recognizing that multiple users in a shop environment might access the application concurrently, our team implemented a robust mechanism to enable users to take over workstations and associated workloads seamlessly. This ensured uninterrupted workflow and accurate time tracking for each stage of steel progression.

Purpose and Results:

Benefits and Transparency: The implementation of the Cut Processing Integration has not only accurate labor tracking but has also provided enhanced transparency for leadership. Tracking of time allocated to specific tasks allows for informed decision-making, enabling leaders to evaluate and optimize production processes. This transparency not only benefits internal operations but also serves as a valuable asset when demonstrating execution capabilities to clients.

Conclusion: The successful development of the Cut Processing Task Integration underscores our commitment to innovation and efficiency within the steel fabrication domain. By overcoming challenges and integrating seamlessly into Shopwerx, this solution empowers our clients with enhanced transparency, enabling them to make informed decisions and showcase their operational excellence to clients. As we continue to evolve, we remain dedicated to delivering solutions that elevate our clients’ capabilities and drive success in their endeavors.
