This weekend, Albertan drag racer Dave Senio took home the first place grand prize at Top Eliminator Edmonton. Senio has been racing for 13 years, and his passion for driving followed his passion for watching the races. He says that once he got in that drivers seat, he never looked back.
How did you get started racing?
“I enjoyed going to the drag races as a spectator for a number of years. I remember sitting in the stands and saying to my wife that I would like to try racing. Her response was, “then why don’t you give it a try”. Our mortgage was paid and the kids were grown up and on their own, so I started looking to purchase a car, and the rest is history. Never looked back or had any regrets from that day forward. The one thing that keeps me going and passionate is how challenging the sport is. Very competitive in every aspect, and most fans do not realize just how technical it is. The sport demands complete focus, consistency, and a strong commitment to be your best every time out. Miss one of the three and you are instantly a spectator watching your competitors race. Very humbling. This truly encourages you to be your best and learn from your mistakes every time down the race track.”
Is there a specific story or memory that comes to mind when yo u think of your racing career?
“Two come to mind. In 2013, being invited to the world finals in Memphis, Tennessee. And asked in 2015 to attend the world finals in Memphis once again. I finished 10th in the world in IHRA (International Hot Rod Association)”.
Are there any special mentions in your support staff that you’d like to thank?
“My committed and very loyal Crew Chief Ron Cordes as well as my family for supporting me and providing me the support to live out my dream.”
Framewerx began sponsoring Dave two years ago. Having already known him as the Vice President of Operations at Supreme Steel, Framewerx’s largest client, the opportunity to support his passions felt natural. Like Framewerx, Dave strives for excellence in everything that he does. An IT company and a drag-racer may seem like an odd pairing, but they are two sides of the same coin, both dealing with bugs- some in the code, and others on the windshield!
“We love Dave” – Dan Reid, Framewerx CEO
Senio races frequently at the RAD Torque Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. But you can catch him out at Mission Raceway park in Mission, BC, July 27 – July 30 for an adrenaline-fueled weekend.
